Carson Park, 1 mile north of Clairmont Ave. (Hwy. 12) in Eau Claire; or the wayside park on Hwy. 85, 2.5 miles west of the I-94/Hwy. 37/85 Eau Claire/Mondovi exit.

The Chippewa River State Trail trailhead is in Phoenix Park located at the confluence of the Eau Claire and Chippewa Rivers in downtown Eau Claire. The trail extends 30 miles to the City of Durand. Tarrant Park serves as the west trailhead. There are now 10 public campsites available at Tarrant Park. The trail surface is ten feet wide and paved with smooth asphalt from the start of the trail in Eau Claire to just near Caryville close to mile marker 11. From there to the trail junction of the Red Cedar State Trail, the surface is an asphalt emulsion suitable for bicycle riding. From the trail junction to Durand, the surface is mainly crushed gravel however about 2 miles is paved with asphalt near the City of Durand. All bridges are wooded decked and railed for riding safety.
