The East River Trail is a pleasant winding trail following the contours of the East River through the communities of Bellevue, Allouez, De Pere and Ledgview. The initial segment of the trail from Green Isle Park in Allouez to LeBrun St. in De Pere (approximately 2 miles) was developed in 1990 with the generous financial support of local businessman, Dick Resch. Trail extensions to the north into Bellevue of about 2 miles have since been added. A southern extension of about one mile into De Pere and Ledgeview was added in 2004. The total length of the trail is now at 6.28 miles.
The trail is narrow and winding as it closely follows the banks of the East River so is more suited to leisurely paced activities. Biking, rollerblading and walking/running are allowed. Dogs are not allowed on the trail with the exception of the Allouez portion where a trial period of allowing dogs on leashes is in effect for 2006.
There are at least 3 sizable parks on the trail with public restrooms. A good place to park and access the trail is at Green Isle Park in Allouez.
