In Madison, the Southwest Path has a number of bicycle/pedestrian access points, including Randall Avenue, Commonwealth Avenue, Odana Road, Midvale Boulevard, and Hammersley Road.
In Fitchburg, there's a 12-car parking area at Dawley Park on Seminole Highway (1/4 mile east of the Badger State Trail on the Capital City State Trail).
Library Park [exit DNR] in the village of Belleville is adjacent to the trail. The park offers five parking spaces, picnic tables, a historic library and a gazebo.
New trailheads will be constructed in Monticello and Monroe.

Badger State Trail is a "Rails to Trails" trail extending from Madison, WI to the Illinois state line. At the state line it connects to the Jane Addams Trail which brings you into Freeport, Il. , Located between Belleville and Monticello, the bike trail goes through Stewart tunnel, which will be a highlight for bicycle riders. Due to a slight bend in the tunnel, you look into total darkness when looking forward in the tunnel. A total of over $300,000 was spent to make the tunnel safe for bikers.
